After years of having only a concept of a body to coordinate the national STI agenda NISTI was enacted in 2014, based on the findings of a survey that was conducted by UNESCO in 2010. This was part of an audit that was carried to determine the status of STI in Seychelles. It was found that STI-related roles and functions were very fragmented and scattered across a number of organizations operating in silos.
