National Innovation System (NIS)
What is a BTI?
The Business Technology and Innovation Incubator (BTI) is intended to provide the personal attention that many entrepreneurs require to become confident and knowledgeable business owners. DSTI is opening the BTI in response to the directive of the NISTI’s policy and strategy 2016 -2015. The BTI shall interact with virtually all members of the local ecosystem – for we are going to build into an excellent hub service delivery programs. Access to training, financing, mentoring and market information shall be provided.
Incubation is a proven strategy that the community can adopt to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship. The BTI shall serve as a:
- A gathering place for start-up businesses and their entrepreneur founders to be inspired:
- A residence for young businesses, surrounded by the tools and resources they need;
- Example of entrepreneurship in action for the encouragement of would-be entrepreneurs; and
- An attraction for visitors, offering relationships with the business community.
The National Policy and Strategy 2016 – 2025 calls for the establishment of a Business, Technology and Innovation (BTI) Incubator to provide a conducive environment for start-ups.
